Miguel Lopez, of Bridgeport, was found around 9:30 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at the Mambo Grocery at 731 Noble Ave., when Bridgeport Police responded for a report of an assault.

Once on the scene, cops found Lopez lying inside the store on the floor, said Terron Jones, a spokesperson for the Bridgeport Police.

Lopez, who could not communicate with officers, was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the assault, Jones said.

The assault may have been over a dispute involving money, police said.

In a surveillance video from the area, three Hispanic males can be seen chasing Lopez. One of the men attacked him with a wooden stick or bat, while another can be seen kicking him repeatedly.

Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to contact Detective Heanue at 203-581-5242.
